ECIP is overseen by an Advisory Group comprising leading buyers, suppliers and key stakeholders within the fresh produce industry. This diverse group provides insights and recommendations that guide ECIP’s direction, development of new features, and strategies to ensure supplier and grower participation. The Advisory Group meets regularly to support the program’s mission of recognizing and strengthening engagement around labor practices.
Members include representatives from AgSocio, Bonduelle, Costco, Equitable Food Initiative, Kroger, McDonald’s, Naturipe, Sam’s Club, Target, Tanimura and Antle, Taylor Farms and Walmart.
EFI serves as the facilitator for ECIP and oversees the management and technology of the ECIP LAB platform.
Launched with initial funding from the Walmart Foundation, ECIP aims to recognize and strengthen engagement around labor practices in the fresh produce industry. A key component of the program is ECIP LAB, an interactive online platform that allows growers and suppliers to learn, assess and benchmark their management systems against the principles of the Ethical Charter on Responsible Labor Practices.
