ECIP suppliers need to engage with the platform to earn engagement stars. While some stars rely on growers’ participation, the Supplier Assessment & Endorsement Star is entirely within the supplier’s control, making it easy to achieve and helps build the engagement profile. Earning this star is a two-step process:
1. Publicly Endorse the Ethical Charter on Responsible Labor Practices:
The first step takes place outside of the ECIP platform. You must officially endorse the Ethical Charter through the International Fresh Produce Association website. By doing so, you publicly signal your alignment with industry-wide principles regarding responsible labor practices and human rights.
2. Complete the Supplier Self-Assessment:
Once you have endorsed the Ethical Charter, you must log in to Supplier LAB and complete your self-assessment. Unlike the grower assessment, which focuses on field-level labor compliance, the supplier assessment consists of 15 management systems designed to evaluate how well you support your growers in strengthening their labor practices.
By completing these two steps, you not only earn a green star for your engagement profile but also check off a prerequisite for earning the Supplier Gold Star, which requires earning all four green stars.
